Australian Capital Territory

The Australian Capital Territory is the capital territory of Australia and the nation’s capital is Canberra. Canberra has a population of around 330,000 people and is home to Australian’s Parliament.

New South Wales

New South Wales is the most populated state in Australia and the capital city of New South Wales is Sydney. The estimated population of New South Wales in 2007 was nearly 7 million people.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory covers over 1300,000 square Kilometres and yet has a population of only 225,000 people. The Northern Territory is home to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and many National Parks such as the world famous Kakadu National Park. The Capital City of the Northern Territory is Darwin.

Queensland

Queensland is a state of Australia that occupies the north-eastern section of Australia. It is the second largest state in Australia and is the third most populous state.

The capital city of Queensland is Brisbane which has the fastest growing population of all Australian cities. The population of Brisbane is 1,810,900.

The Gold Coast, in the southeast corner of Queensland is known for its sunny subtropical climate, surfing beaches, high-rise buildings, the nightlife and its tourist attractions.

The Great Barrier Reef, the largest Coral Reef system in the world runs parallel to the Queensland coast. It consists of 2900 reefs, 600 continental islands, 300 coral cays and is home to approximately 1500 different species of fish, 360 species of hard coral, 5000 – 8000 species of molluscs (shells) as well as many other forms of wildlife such as turtles, dugong, whales and dolphins.

South Australia

South Australia's Capital City is Adelaide, South Australia has a population of over 1.6 Million people and with over 900,000 square Kilometres is Australia's fourth largest state.

Tasmania

Tasmania is an Island and a State 240 Kilometres south of Australia, it has a population of 500,000 people and is the 26th largest island in the world, the capital city of Tasmania is Hobart.

Victoria

Victoria's capital city is Melbourne and whilst Victoria is the smallest state in physical size on mainland Australia it is the second most populated state with over 5 million people estimated in June 2007.

Western Australia

Western Australia is Australia's largest state, it has a population of 2.2 Million and the capital city of Western Australia is Perth. Resource sector growth in Western Australia in recent years has resulted in labour and skills shortages, despite efforts by the West Australian Government to entice interstate and overseas migration.
