Toowoomba is a picturesque mountain city located in south east Queensland some 127Km west of Queensland’s capital, Brisbane. With a population of over 90 000 people, Toowoomba is the commercial and economic hub of Queensland Darling Downs, serving a population area of over 250 000 and is Australia’s second largest inland city.

The city of Toowoomba sits on the crest of what is known at Australia’s great dividing range. The Great Dividing Range, or the Eastern Highlands, is Australia's most substantial mountain range and the fourth longest in the world. The range stretches more than 3,500 km (2,175 mi) from Dauan Island off the northeastern tip of Queensland, running the entire length of the eastern coastline through New South Wales, then into Victoria and turning west, before finally fading into the central plain at the Grampians in western Victoria.) A few streets of Toowoomba are on the eastern side of the range but most of the city is west of the divide.

Major Industries in Toowoomba include manufacturing, wholesale, agriculture with Toowoomba being the major hub of the Darling Downs, there is large demand for the manufacturing of agricultural machinery and the maintenance and servicing of these products.

Toowoomba is also considered a major educational centre with more than 23 private schools, a technical college, and university.

Toowoomba's climate is pleasant with temperature ranging from cool 5°C to 16°C in winter and a mild 17°C to 27°C in summer. Toowoomba enjoys the four distinct seasons throughout the year and has over 150 parks for its residents to relax in and enjoy.

There are many things to see and do in Toowoomba all year round. In spring time, Toowoomba's parks and gardens become vibrant and ablaze with colour and life, and to celebrate Toowoomba's status as "The Garden City", every year in September the Carnival of Flowers is held, with a street parade, and other activities.

Toowoomba is also a great sporting city, with rugby league the most popular sport in Toowoomba, but Toowoomba also has many clubs for other sports including cricket, archery, swimming, tennis, softball, baseball, netball, hockey gridiron and basketball.
