Blackwater is a major town of a significant coal mining area in Central Queensland, Australia. Blackwater, inland to the west from Rockhampton is where six major open cut coal mines and one underground mine dot the landscape surrounding the town.

Rockhampton is a city on the east coast of Queensland Australia.

Rockhampton is approximately 600km north of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland.

Rockhampton is situated on the Fitzroy river, the second largest river catchment in Australia covering an area of 150 000 square kilometres.

A great place to visit is the Rockhampton Zoo. Animals and birds include Koalas, Chimpanzees, Saltwater Crocodiles, Freshwater Crocodiles, Red Kangaroos and the rare Australian Cassowary.

Great Keppel Island is just off the shores of Rockhampton’s Capricorn coast of which the majority of the island is national park. The Capricorn Coast is a 30 minute drive from Rockhampton, with the islands of the Keppel group easily accessible from there. If you'd like to relax on the beautiful white beaches of an island paradise, or if fishing is your idea of a great holiday regular fishing charters leave the boat harbour,  then Great Keppel Island is just what you're looking for.

Less than a 40 minute drive from Rockhampton is Mt Morgan an integral part of the region’s history in the gold rush days.
